The Melkstal

Welcome to The Melkstal.  Constructed in 2001 on a farm acquired in 1998, The Melkstal was initiated by Gerhard Meyer, our first farm manager, who at the time was cultivating table grapes but had a good background of dairy farming. He introduced 5 Holstein cows and established a milking facility, One of the cows named Hendeer was owned by Gerhard's father but was moved to AAA. The impressive construction was led by Gert Pienaar, who completed it in record time with building 1320 bricks per hour.

With six cows, a milking machine, and a cooling tank, we took pride in producing fresh milk. Santie, owner's wife, separated the cream and milk to create delicious butter, which she used in her bakery at home. Santie's hobby to bake at home is still going strong with great appreciation from her family and friends.

After two decades, The Melkstal has been thoughtfully repurposed into elegant accommodations, offering our esteemed guests a unique experience while honoring the legacy of Gert Meyer's Melkstal.
